Egg Free Cookies

1280 votes

Ingredients

  • No eggs!
  • 12oz self raising flour
  • 8oz soft margarine
  • 8oz caster sugar
  • 2oz dark chocolate drops (or anything else you fancy putting in; smarties, white chocolate drops, raisins etc.)

Method

1 - mix the ingerdients together in a big bowl, use your hands to knead the dough, it shouldn't be at all crumbly, so add a little more margarine if it is.
2 - take a small ball of dough, about the size of 1 and a half ping pong balls and squeeze it so it's a circle about 1.5cm thick
3 - place on a greased tray.
You can make between 16 - 22 cookies, so use 2 trays.
4 - cook in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 15 mins.
5 - eat them while they're hot! Taste magic with a glass of milk :)

  • I love these cookies! I changed the recipe a bit and they were delicious. If crumbly i suggest adding milk because it makes it less crumbly and adds a lovely flavour.

  • Didn't have any chocolate chips, so i put in a spoonful or two of nutella and a spoonful of cocoa powder. Also used regular granulated sugar as opposed to caster.

Didn't mix all that well at first, but a little bit of water added to the mixture made it mix perfect.

Cooked for about 25 minutes at gas mark 6 and they came out brilliant!

I recommend this recipe to anyone looking for something sweet and easy to bake but don't have eggs. Also, don't be afraid to add a few extras :)

  • My 11 year old daughter and i had a good time making these. We liked the recipe because we had no eggs. It worked. Some of the cookies were a little on the thick side but tasted like cakes. We added a few porridge oats and currants for good measure. Have fun!

  • I used normal flour and a bit of self raising flour but because i didnt have enough ingredients i had to less all the other ingredients buy this didnt make a difference. Then i crumbled oreos with some rasisins added too! I used some milk to ease the crumble which worked really well! My cookies are very large but they taste delishous and i will definitely use this recipe again!♥
