STEP 1:

butter
eel
potato

Peel and half the potatoes, place in a pan of salted water and bring to the boil. Boil the potatoes until nearly falling apart. Drain the potatoes, add a good knob of butter, salt and pepper to taste and mash. (Alternatively you could use that old favourtite ‘smash’ its cheap and alot quicker, I just add butter, salt and pepper to that also)

STEP 2:

potato
tea

In a oven proof dish add the stewing steak, level out and then add the mash potato on top (as you would with a cottage pie). I usually fork up the mash on top as this gives the pie an extra crispier topping. (Alternatively you could sprinkle with grated cheese)

STEP 3:

Pre-heat the oven to about 180 degrees and then place the pie inside.

STEP 4:

gin
potato

Take out when the mash potato becomes crisp, golden and the gravy begins to bubble around the edges. This usually takes 20 mins, I sometimes leave it longer so the gravy penetrates through the mash. Delish!

STEP 5:

STEP 6:

This will serve two if accomponied with veg. I usually make it for myself and eat it straight from the oven dish 🙂 great on cold winter nights.
