Burger King is rolling out two new versions of its Original Chicken Sandwich at participating U.S. restaurants today, July 7. The new additions are the Loaded Jalapeño Original Chicken Sandwich and the Club Original Chicken Sandwich. Both are limited-time fast-food menu items.
According to Burger King, the Original Chicken Sandwich has been around since 1979. It’s known for its long shape, lightly breaded white meat chicken, shredded lettuce, tangy mayonnaise, and toasted sesame seed bun.
Two new sandwiches join the lineup
The Loaded Jalapeño Original Chicken Sandwich is built for people who want heat. It comes with creamy jalapeño sauce, crispy jalapeños, pickled jalapeños, crispy onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and American cheese. It’s all served on the chain’s signature long white meat chicken patty and elongated sesame seed bun.
The Club Original Chicken Sandwich goes in a different direction. It includes crispy bacon, melted Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and creamy mayonnaise. It’s the same long chicken patty and sesame seed bun, just in a classic club-style.
Burger King says fans asked for new twists
Burger King Chief Marketing Officer Joel Yashinsky said the Original Chicken Sandwich has been loved for its “signature seasoning, taste, and unmistakable shape since 1979.” He also said the company heard from fans through its guest listening initiative, and that the Loaded Jalapeño and Club flavors are meant to celebrate that love while adding something new.
When it comes to fast-food, there is such a thing as menu fatigue. So a familiar sandwich with new toppings gives customers something different to try without asking them to figure out what they like on a brand new menu.
How to order the new Burger King sandwiches
Guests can order the Original Chicken Sandwich, Loaded Jalapeño Original Chicken Sandwich, and Club Original Chicken Sandwich at participating Burger King restaurants nationwide beginning July 7.
