As a student we are all constantly living off of our loans, making them stretch as far as we possibly can. However it has got to that time of year where we are scrimping and saving until it’s time to go home for Christmas, waiting to come back to start the second semester with the brand new installment of our student loan; therefore it is important to make our food to keep us fuller for longer. With December seeing the beginning of winter and the nights are fully drawn in it is important as well to make sure the food we eat keeps us not only full, but warm.
It’s no surprise that you have already started collecting a vast amount of costumes for those themed uni nights out with your friends. Unfortunately even with our loans or part-time jobs at uni, costumes can sometimes be on the pricey side but they really don’t have to be if you shop around.
Ready meals – very much the food baby of Western Civilisation. What’s more, us Brits are the worst in Europe for stocking up on them. £1.9bn was spent on ready meals in last year alone, double that of France and even triple that of Spain. More than 1/3 of adults in the UK admit to eating ready meals more than once a week – I wonder how many of those guilty are students...
When it comes to students, it’s safe to say most of us (including myself!) aren’t Michelin starred trained. In fact, most are limited as to what they can do in the kitchen – but you don’t have to be an outstanding chef to be able to cook up something not only delicious but nutritious too.
Your stomach gurgles. The PowerPoint presentation flickers before your eyes. You try in vain to write some useful notes, but to no avail. Is it Fresher’s flu? A hangover? Maybe.
But then again, maybe not.
