Most people will be making their first trip to uni soon, or travelling back for another long year of hard work and exams, ready for the main event of the year, Fresher’s Week!
Here we are again... and it’s the first week of November already! Where has all the time gone? Fresher’s Week seems like many moons ago now (or, it’s all just a bit of a blur to you!). Hopefully you have all settled in, had fun, made friends, attended lectures and are coping with your new student lifestyle. Whether you have made a real stab in the kitchen just yet now that might be another story...
Have you made it your New Year’s resolution to get fit? How’s that going so far, bearing in mind only 8% of resolutions are successful … Not a surprise really, especially for students who are usually up to their eyes in revision, exams and deadlines throughout January. But so what if your resolution didn’t go to plan – there’s no time like the present to restart your get fit goals!
Don’t get me wrong – I have some good memories from Valentine’s Days past. But now that everything red, pink and fluffy is appearing as soon as Christmas is over, Valentine’s Day seems to be getting a bit old. Unlike other holidays there is no guarantee of presents, no reason to get drunk that doesn’t involve self-pity, and no greater meaning to be taken away at the end of it all. Even if you like endless teddy bear cards, there has to be something better to do on the 14th of February than watch some non-funny rom com while waiting for an acceptable moment for a PDA.

Unfortunately, a typical student diet consists of highly processed, nutrient-poor fatty foods. However, there is one food that does not feature in our diets as often as it should do – fish.
