For many of us University is done for the summer, and now there’s a whole four months until it starts again. What have you got planned? Catching up with old friends, enjoying the weather (if possible), relaxing, going on holiday and probably getting nagged by your parents on a daily basis - but they’ve got a point you know...
‘Afternoon tea’ is something that people like to think us British people take part in on a daily basis. Unfortunately, with the busy and hectic lifestyles we now lead this is not always the case. Although, it is nice to take part in one of our well-known traditions once in a while, take 20 minutes out of our day and indulge in a little ‘you’ time for a slice of cake and a cuppa.
Don’t get me wrong – I have some good memories from Valentine’s Days past. But now that everything red, pink and fluffy is appearing as soon as Christmas is over, Valentine’s Day seems to be getting a bit old. Unlike other holidays there is no guarantee of presents, no reason to get drunk that doesn’t involve self-pity, and no greater meaning to be taken away at the end of it all. Even if you like endless teddy bear cards, there has to be something better to do on the 14th of February than watch some non-funny rom com while waiting for an acceptable moment for a PDA.
