As a student, money can be a struggle so in any area you can save, you definitely should. Whether that is by cutting back on nights out, doing a little less shopping or visiting some of these sites I am about to give you, it all helps!
Starting to run out of ideas in the kitchen? Sick of having spaghetti bolognese every other night? Mum refusing your calls because she’s sick of the endless amount of ‘how do I cook this’ questions? Thought so. Seeing as you’re only about one month into this cooking for yourself malarkey, maybe it’s time you got some help in the kitchen – that’s not from your mother.
Most couples nowadays have to limit the amount they spend on each other for birthdays, Christmas and day to day activities. For student couples, this can be even more difficult. So when it comes to Valentine’s Day, as much as you might want to splash out and treat your loved one to an outlandish evening out (pretending not to worry about the mounting bill) your bank account may not agree. Valentine’s Day can often mean bars and restaurants bump up the prices and restaurants will no doubt be heaving.
Don’t get me wrong – I have some good memories from Valentine’s Days past. But now that everything red, pink and fluffy is appearing as soon as Christmas is over, Valentine’s Day seems to be getting a bit old. Unlike other holidays there is no guarantee of presents, no reason to get drunk that doesn’t involve self-pity, and no greater meaning to be taken away at the end of it all. Even if you like endless teddy bear cards, there has to be something better to do on the 14th of February than watch some non-funny rom com while waiting for an acceptable moment for a PDA.
