Cheesy Ground Beef Potato Bake Recipe Ingredients
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 3/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 10.5 ounces
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
- 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 cup of frozen green beans or peas
Cheesy Ground Beef Potato Bake Recipe Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Heat a large skillet over a medium heat and add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook for 8 minutes, breaking up the beef as it browns.
- Add the garlic, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and black pepper. Cook for a minute and then drain off grease.
- In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and sour cream until smooth.
- Add the sliced potatoes to another large bowl. Toss them with olive oil and the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- Spread half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish.
- Add half of the beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle on half of the green beans or peas.
- Pour half of the creamy sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle with 3/4 cup cheddar cheese.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, beef, vegetables, sauce, and another 3/4 cup cheddar cheese.
- Once layered, cover the dish tightly with foil and place in the oven.
- Bake for 40 minutes and then remove the foil. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top and bake uncovered for 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
