1. Saute garlic and onion until brown. Mix in the chicken until it changes color.
2. Pour the soy sauce and water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Add in potatoes, pineapple and sugar if desired.
4. Put in the bay leaves and peppercorn. Simmer for 10 minutes.
5. Add salt if still needed.
