Cheap and tasty curry that costs less then 50p a portion!

  • This recipe got me through my last term at uni when i was skint... even if your not a veggie (like me) this is still pretty tasty! Many of these ingredients make up to to 5/6 portions...
  • What you'll need:
  • -Bag of own brand value rice (1kg for 60p from sainsburys)
  • -Bag of frozen peas or mixed veg/veggies of your choice (about 60p-£1)
  • -Tin of chopped tomatoes (30p from sainsburys)
  • -Curry paste (about £1)
  • -One Onion (diced) (about 30p)
  • -Salt & Pepper to taste

1. Place the rice on the hob. Once boiling reduce heat and cover for 20 minutes.

Whilst the rice is cooking

2. Chop up your onion and put in a pan with some oil for 2-3 minutes (or until light brown)

3. Place your frozen veg in the microwave for 4 minutes or if you don't have a microwave, boil on the hob for 5 minutes

4. Once cooked put your veg into the pan with the onions

5. add the chopped tomatoes

6. add the curry paste

7. season to your taste

8. drain rice and stir into pan

9. Serve!
