Published Wednesday, 26 February, 2014 by Beth Bradshaw

Something different to try this shrove tuesday - nice and thick breakfast style pancakes

  • 190g flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp. Ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 60ml black treacle
  • 300ml milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • oil for frying pan
  • makes about 10 pancakes

1) whisk the milk, treacle and eggs together in a jug.

2) combine all the dry ingredients together in a bowl then whisk in the liquid gradually and whisk all together.

3) heat your pan on a medium-high heat with a little oil, enough the coat the whole pan (so it doesn't stick) and pour 1 ladle of batter into the pan.

4) cook on each side for about 2-3 mins depending on thickness and heat, but it should start to bubble when it needs flipping.
