combine together the sugar with softened butter, until creamy
add the eggs mixing thoroughly
stir in the golden syrup
sift in the flour and bring everything together, either with good hand mixing or an electric whisk
pour the mixture into a well greased tray - a roasting dish will double up if nothing else suitable!
put into a preheated 180c oven for about 25 minutes, or until golden, risen and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
turn out and allow to cool
i like to top mine with a buttercream, and then you can add any decoration too!
use an electric whisk to combine the 60g butter with 120g icing sugar until a creamy paste
once the cake is cool, spread the icing on, cut into squares, and decorate how you please!
enjoy with a nice cuppa tea! Mmm!
