Low Fat Brownies

Only 82 calories per brownie!!



  • Makes 18
  • 50ml of vegetable or sunflower oil
  • 150g white caster sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 80g plain flour


1. Heat the oven to 175c

2. Mix the oil and sugar in a large bowl. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and mix well.

3. Carefully add the cocoa powder, baking powder and flour and mix thoroughly.

4. Grease a baking tin and then fill it with the brownie mixture.

5. Cook in the oven for about 15 minutes

These will keep fresh in the fridge for about a week and also freeze well

    I made these, but they came out more like a cake than a brownie. I'll probably give them another go but turn down the oven a bit!

    Me (danni) and my dad (steve) have made these together twice now! I made them in school once lol. We love them! We add choco chips and might add fruit next time!! Nom nom!!

    All good brownie recipes have oil in them. It is kinda greasy but thats how they are squidgy and tasty. It's not bad grease. Personally I don't think there's a good low fat brownie. The best are the ones with lots of oil and little flour.

    I've worked out the calories, its 1217.6 for the entire batch (using cadbury's bournville cocoa and with out vanilla extract or baking powder). I'm about to make these now :)

    have had other recipies call for oil and the cake came out great, as for amy who is asking for calories, add it up and divide it for the portions you eat, wont be EXACT but roughly good enough.

    Does the vegetable oil make the brownies really greasy? Can you use butter instead?

    i made these a while back and some of my cousin nd his fionce nd their baby girl visited me, my cousin said they were gorgeous and i though they were 2!
