Put a pot of hot water on the hob.
Add stock cube and turmeric/chilli powder.
Whilst bringing this to the boil, dice the turnip, onion, and any other veg going in.
Add all ingredients to the pot and allow to cook for at least 30 minutes.
Add any seasoning to taste.
I tend to blend the soup once it is cooked. It is really amazing this way.
