Homemade pea soup

Ingredients

  • Pea soup uncooked - 500 ml (2 cups)
  • water for soaking
  • broth of your choice - 3 l (12 cups)
  • non-hydrogenated margarine nuvel -15 ml (1 tbsp)
  • onion, chopped - 1
  • celery cut diagonally - 1 branch
  • carrot into small pieces - 1
  • bay leaf
  • ground savory - 2 ml (1/2 tsp)
  • ham into small cubes - 60 ml (1/4 cup)
  • pepper, salt to taste

Method

Put the peas into a bowl and cover with water

soak peas 6 to 8 hours or overnight

discard the soaking water

mix in a salad bowl the first ingredients

add the peas and remaining ingredients in a saucepan

cover and simmer about 3 hours
