If you haven’t already got into the swing of things whether you’re a Fresher or well into your 2nd or 3rd year, there are many ways you can become motivated if you are wanting to find that balance between your job, university work and social life as well as being able to sleep, exercise and eat well. Motivation is the key to achieving anything you need to in a day. Being an exercise-o-holic and organised fanatic myself I wanted to share a few things from my morning routine which help me to achieve my goals whilst experiencing my time at university.
Morning routines can be hard to achieve if you keep snoozing that alarm but you need to make sure you go to sleep at a reasonable hour (besides those social nights out) and set an alarm for that early morning wake up call. Getting up for those 9ams can seem a little daunting at first but soon you will be going to be heading out to a full time job and those wake up calls will need to be even earlier than they are now. Give yourself enough time to eat and exercise every morning and you will be feeling wide awake in no time. You don’t need to go on a 10 mile run every morning, but there are lots of ways to exercise to wake up feeling energised and refreshed ready for the day ahead. If you don’t like entering the gym on those dark winter mornings, try out a few exercises before you make your breakfast to make you feel more awake in the mornings and get your blood flowing.
Make sure after you’ve exercised that you eat a healthy breakfast, starting your day on bad food can lead to a bad feeling about the day. Fruit, green tea, porridge, wholemeal toast or eggs can give you the energy you need to start your day off to a good start and will fill you up until lunch time.
Keeping hydrated with water can also help to maintain your brain levels during the morning. I always make sure that I wake myself up with a splash of cold water on my face, a hot shower and gulp down a glass of water, it really kick starts your brain into action and makes you think clearer, especially when it’s dark outside and your body still feels like it’s the middle of the night!
I hope the few tips I have given from my morning routine can help other students out there too struggling to meet those deadlines or the dreaded 9ams!
How do you wake up in the morning? Do you use a similar routine or can you share below your tips to help others too?
Happy motivation folks!
