Chipotle is bringing back Summer of Extras, and new Rewards members can get free chips and guacamole just for joining.
The summer rewards push starts June 1 and gives Chipotle fans a mix of signup perks, monthly streak challenges, leaderboard rankings, and extra ways to earn free food through the Chipotle Rewards program.
According to Chipotle via PRNewswire, guests can join Chipotle Rewards and opt into Summer of Extras at chipotle.com/summer-of-extras. New members are being offered free chips and guac at signup, which is the kind of simple fast-food deal that still gets attention. No complicated math and no scavenger hunt just to understand the offer.
Free chips and guac for joining
There are a few caveats with the offer:
- New Chipotle Rewards members can receive one free regular side of chips and one regular side or topping of guacamole with a purchase of $5 or more, not including tax and tip.
- Chipotle’s offer terms state that it is a one-time-use reward, and it expires if it is not used within seven days after being added to the member’s account.
So if you join, use it quickly.
What members can earn this summer
PR Newswire reported that Rewards members can earn free entrées through seven-visit monthly streak challenges. Each entrée purchase counts toward the monthly streak, and members who collect all seven badges in a month can unlock either a free entrée or 1,625 points.
Chipotle’s Summer of Extras page adds that members can track progress in the app, earn extra points and badges, and take part in Side Quests and weekly Rewards Exchange drops.
Those Rewards Exchange offers begin each Monday during the summer starting June 8.
A little friendly competition
For the first time, members can also see how they rank at their most-visited Chipotle, along with state and national leaderboards. It’s very 2026. Even your burrito bowl has stats now.
“Our fans don’t just eat Chipotle, they build routines around it,” Curt Garner, Chipotle’s President, Chief Strategy and Technology Officer, said in the company’s announcement. Garner added that the program is meant to give members more ways to earn free food, track progress, and compare their standing with other fans nearby.
How to join
Guests can join Chipotle Rewards through the Chipotle app or at chipotle.com/summer-of-extras. Current members need to open the Rewards section of their account, find Summer of Extras, and activate it before earning toward the summer offers.
