Pancake lovers should head to IHOP today, March 3, 2026, as the company is giving visitors a free Short Stack of buttermilk pancakes at participating restaurants.
The free pancakes run from 7am – 8pm local time, one day only.
For those curious, a Short Stack is three pancakes.

IHOP National Pancake day
Going forward, IHOP will be making the first Tuesday of each March its National Pancake Day celebration. So if you miss it this year, set a reminder for the first Tuesday of March 2027.
In the IHOP announcement, the celebration is U.S. only, for guests dining in, and available hours may vary across the country.
This is the kind of old-school fast-food freebie everyone loves. It’s a simple offer, one day only, that IHOP is hoping to turn into an annual event. However, there is a bigger purpose behind the promotion.

Supporting Feeding America
IHOP is using the promotion to help support hunger relief. Business Wire reported that guests are encouraged to donate in store, and every $1 donated on March 3 helps provide roughly 10 meals to local Feeding America partner food banks.
Feeding America is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization. It works through a national network of food banks, food pantries, and local meal programs to help people facing food insecurity in the country.
Via this network, the organization helps move donated food and resources into local communities, and it also supports hunger-relief efforts through advocacy and funding for partner programs.
That is why IHOP’s National Pancake Day donation is so worthy. The money raised can help support local food banks in the areas where people need help the most.
Before heading out, make sure your local IHOP is participating. If it does, the process is simple. Go in, sit down, and ask for your free Short Stack. However, if you can spare it, consider donating.
