Chocolate lovers take notice, the brand Spring & Mulberry has expanded its voluntary recall of select chocolate bars because of possible Salmonella contamination.

The FDA published the expanded recall on May 8, 2026, after the company’s investigation pointed to one lot of date ingredient as the likely source.

According to the FDA, the recalled chocolate bars were sold online and through select retail partners nationwide starting in August 2025.

Importantly, the company stated the recalled products have tested negative for Salmonella, and there have been no confirmed illnesses linked to the bars so far. Still, customers are being told not to eat them.

What customers should do

Anyone who has one of the recalled Spring & Mulberry bars should not eat it. Via the recall, the company says that customers should take a photo of the product packaging showing the batch code, then email it to [email protected] for refund instructions.

After documenting the batch code, the product should be thrown away immediately.

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. The FDA states that it can be especially dangerous for young children, older adults, frail people, and anyone with a weakened immune system. So this isn’t one to shrug off.
