
Fans of ice cream be warned, the Straus Family Creamery has issued a voluntary recall for select Organic Super Premium Ice Cream products because they may contain metal fragments.
The recall was announced by the company on May 14, 2026, and published by the FDA on May 15, 2026. No injuries have been reported so far.
According to the FDA, the recalled ice cream was sold in pint and quart containers and reached retailers in 17 states. Those states include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The affected products were on store shelves beginning May 4.
The recalled products
Delish reported that the affected flavors include Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, Cookie Dough, Dutch Chocolate, and Mint Chip. Before acting, customers should check pint and quart containers tied to the recall. Information is included below:
- Vanilla Bean pints are included with “best by” dates of Dec. 23, 2026, and Dec. 28, 2026. Both have the UPC 7-84830-10030-6.
- The strawberry flavor is affected in two sizes. The recalled quart has a Dec. 24, 2026, “best by” date and UPC 7-84830-10097-9. The recalled pint has a Dec. 25, 2026, “best by” date and UPC 7-84830-10095-5.
- Cookie Dough pints with a Dec. 26, 2026, “best by” date and UPC 7-84830-10104-4 are also part of the recall.
- Dutch Chocolate quarts with a Dec. 27, 2026, “best by” date and UPC 7-84830-10012-2 are included too.
- Mint Chip pints with a Dec. 30, 2026, “best by” date and UPC 7-84830-10050-4 are also listed.
The FDA states that customers can find the required information printed in black on the outside bottom of the ice cream container.

What customers should do now
Consumers who bought recalled Straus ice cream should not eat it. According to the FDA announcement, customers should throw away the recalled product and should not return it to the store.
