Beef Stew

Cheap and tasty



  • 1lb beef chunks/strips
  • 6 medium carrots
  • 5 medium potatoes
  • 6 mushrooms
  • 1 and a half stock cubes (i find chicken is nicest)
  • 2 tins mushroom soup
  • 4oz gravy granules
  • 100ml single or double cream


First start by peeling and chopping the vegetables and place them to the side before adding them to the casserole dish. Secondly, place the stock in to a pan and add 750ml of boiling water and stir in until all of the stock has dissolved, then add this to the casserole dish. Add the gravy granules and the cream in to casserole dish with the stock and stir in until the gravy granules have dissolved. Next warm the soup up until heated through and add to the casserole dish. Once this has been done brown the beef and then add the beef and vegetables to the dish and cook for 90 minutes on 200 degrees celsius or gas mark 7.

a change in meat and adding or taking away vegetables will work just as well. Enjoy :)
