Scrummy Shepherds Pie

Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince lamb if preferred
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 1 tablespoon worcester sauce
  • 2 chicken oxo
  • 2 beef oxo
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 litre boiling water
  • FOR THE MASH POTATO
  • 1 kg maris piper potato
  • knob butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream

Method

fry onion beef and carrot until brown stirring continuously.

add remaining ingredients and stir well, leave to simmer for at least an hour or until most of the stock has disappeared.

meanwhile boil potatoes in salted water until soft. mash with butter and milk and set aside.

spoon into an ovenproof dish and top with mash potato.

put in a hot oven or grill until brown.

    Best shepherds pie I have ever made, really flavoursome and the meat was ever so tender as I cooked it for a couple of hours and just added more water if it evapourated too much.
