Easy Caprese Puff Pastry Turnover

This Caprese puff pastry turnover is made with tomato, basil, mozzarella, and a balsamic drizzle.

Pull your puff pastry out of the freezer to thaw for at least 40 minutes and preheat the oven to 400℉

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment and drizzle 6 puddles of olive oil with a sprinkle of salt where each piece of pastry will go



Place thin slices of tomato and mozzarella over the puddles and top with a teaspoon of ribboned basil



Cut each sheet of pastry dough into 6 even rectangles and place one over each gathering of tomato and mozzarella


Pinch the sides down against the parchment paper and place into the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown


Optional: Brush an egg wash over the top of the pastry before putting them in the oven for a shinier golden color


Once golden, remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes


Carefully flip your pastries and place them onto a serving dish

Place a rectangle of raw puff pastry on top of the six piles and gently press around the sides to tuck in all the ingredients. 6. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg plus a splash of water. Using a pastry brush, brush the egg wash on the tops of the puff pastry rectangles. 7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up. Remove from oven and serve.
