Satay Chicken

Simple, tasty and easy to modify satay recipe.



  • For sauce:
  • 1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 2-3 tbsp sweet chilli sauce (+ more to taste)
  • 3/4 water
  • 1 heaped tbsp honey
  • generous squeeze of lime juice
  • salt + pepper
  • everything else:
  • 2 chicken breasts--cut into small cubes or thin strips
  • 1 brown onion--diced
  • 2 carrots--cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 a small cucumber--sliced and halved
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil



add all ingredients to a saucepan.

heat all ingredients in a saucepan on medium.

stir regularly until all ingredients are combined and the sauce thickens slightly.

chicken + veg:

heat the oil in a fry pan.

add the chicken and cook until outside completely white.

add the vegetables and stir until onion slightly browned and other vegetables soft and the chicken should now be slightly brown and cooked through.

now add the sauce and stir until mixed evenly throughout.

serve with rice or noodles.

note: this recipe is super easy to modify.

for example you could:

- adjust chicken to veg ration

- use different (or no) meat

- use different vegetables--whatever's available!

- use more chilli sauce if you like a spicier satay
