Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings, split at joints and tips discarded
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will help the wings get crispy.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet. This setup will allow the wings to cook evenly on all sides.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken wings, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the wings are evenly coated. Using baking powder, not baking soda, is key for achieving a crispy texture.
- Arrange the coated wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Ensure the wings do not touch each other to promote even cooking.
- Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then, flip them over using tongs and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden brown.
- While the wings are baking, combine the hot sauce, melted butter, honey, garlic powder, and onion powder in a medium bowl. Stir well until the sauce is smooth and set aside.
- Once the wings are done baking, carefully remove them from the oven. Transfer them into the bowl with the buffalo sauce and toss to coat thoroughly. Use a spoon to ensure each wing is evenly sauced.
- Serve the buffalo wings hot with your choice of dipping sauce, such as blue cheese or ranch dressing. Enjoy!
