preheat oven to 140 degrees
grease the cake tin with butter or cooking spray oil
using an electric beater, cream butter and sugar for 5 minutes or until the colour is pale and fluffy.
add one eggs at a time, beating well with each addition.
fold in sifted flour
pour mixture into greased pan and bake for 1 1/4 hours (cover with alfoil if the cake is browning too quickly)
cool in tin before taking it out.
it's much lovelier with whipped cream and strawberries
