Published Tuesday, 04 March, 2014 by Beth Bradshaw

A savoury treat for pancake day!

  • 135g self raising flour
  • 1 lg egg
  • 120ml milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp marmite
  • 50g grated cheese
  • serves 4-6

1) melt the butter in a saucepan until all liquid, take off the heat then add the marmite and mix together

2) add all the dry ingredients into a bowl, then whisk the milk and egg together in a jug and slowly whisk into the bowl.

3) once all the mixture is incorporated, whisk in the cooled butter & marmite and add the cheese and combine once more.

4) heat a frying pan on a medium heat with a little oil (to prevent sticking) then add a ladel to the pan (you should beable to fit around 3 in a pan depending on the size) and allow to cook for 2-3 mins or until nice and golden underneath. Flip and cook for another 1-2 mins

serve with a spread of butter or marmite if you like!
