One Pot Hot Dog Pasta Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 10 to 12 ounces of hot dogs, sliced into rounds
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
  • 1 can diced of tomatoes, 14.5 ounces, undrained
  • 2 cups of chicken broth or water
  • 12 ounces of penne pasta
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning or dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 3/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for topping
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped green onions or parsley

One Pot Hot Dog Pasta Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Slice the hot dogs and add them to the pot. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring often, until lightly browned.
  3. Add the diced onion and cook for 2 minutes, until they start to soften.
  4. Stir in the garlic and tomato paste. Cook for 1 minute more.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, penne pasta, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir the ingredients well.
  6. Bring the ingredients to a boil and then lower the heat to medium-low, cover with the lid slightly cracked. Cook for 14 minutes and stir every few minutes so the pasta does not stick.
  7. When the pasta is tender, reduce to a low heat and stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cook for 3 more minutes, until the sauce is creamy and coats the pasta.
  9. Taste and adjust the salt and pepper.
  10. Top with extra Parmesan and chopped green onions or parsley.
