Step 1:

  • Pre-heat overn to 190c and grease a baking tray
  • Step 2:

  • Sieve flour, bicarb. and ginger into a bowl
  • Step 3:

  • Rub margarine into the flour until it resembles fine crumbs
  • Step 4:

  • Stir in the sugar, then add the syrup and egg
  • Step 5:

  • Stir until a stiff dough is formed then knead on a floured work surface until smooth
  • Step 6:

  • Divide into 2, roll out onto a floured work surface until 5mm thick
  • Step 7:

  • Cut with a cutter or make your own template
  • Step 8:

  • Bake for 12-15minutes or until golden brown
