Golden Syrup Tray Bake!

Deliciously light yet oh so simple tray bake! fluffy, quick and tastes divine.

Ingredients

  • Cake-
  • ? 100g muscovado sugar – use a light brown sugar if you don’t have any
  • ? 200g butter
  • ? 200g self raising flour
  • ? 2 eggs
  • ? 2 heaped tbsp golden syrup
  • buttercream topping-
  • ? 60g butter
  • ? 120g icing sugar

Instructions

  1. ? combine together the sugar with softened butter, until creamy

  2. ? add the eggs mixing thoroughly

  3. ? stir in the golden syrup

  4. ? sift in the flour and bring everything together, either with good hand mixing or an electric whisk

  5. ? pour the mixture into a well greased tray – a roasting dish will double up if nothing else suitable!

  6. ? put into a preheated 180c oven for about 25 minutes, or until golden, risen and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.

  7. ? turn out and allow to cool

  8. ? i like to top mine with a buttercream, and then you can add any decoration too!

  9. ? use an electric whisk to combine the 60g butter with 120g icing sugar until a creamy paste

  10. ? once the cake is cool, spread the icing on, cut into squares, and decorate how you please!

  11. enjoy with a nice cuppa tea! Mmm!
