Step 1: ? combine together the sugar with softened butter, until creamy
Step 3: ? add the eggs mixing thoroughly
Step 5: ? stir in the golden syrup
Step 7: ? sift in the flour and bring everything together, either with good hand mixing or an electric whisk
Step 9: ? pour the mixture into a well greased tray – a roasting dish will double up if nothing else suitable!
Step 11: ? put into a preheated 180c oven for about 25 minutes, or until golden, risen and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
Step 13: ? turn out and allow to cool
Step 15: ? i like to top mine with a buttercream, and then you can add any decoration too!
Step 17: ? use an electric whisk to combine the 60g butter with 120g icing sugar until a creamy paste
Step 19: ? once the cake is cool, spread the icing on, cut into squares, and decorate how you please!
Step 21: enjoy with a nice cuppa tea! Mmm!
