When it comes to brunch, lunch, or even a snack late in the day, nothing comes close to the flavorful simplicity of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. However, if you haven’t been grilling it, you’re missing out.

A grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich takes that childhood favorite and gives it a warm, crispy texture. The gooeyness of the filling makes it feel far more indulgent, and all it takes is a little bit of butter and 8 minutes of grilling. Simple.

Check out the ingredients and cooking steps below.

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons of butter, softened
  • 2 slices of white sandwich bread
  • 2 teaspoons of fruit jelly, any flavor
  • 1 teaspoon of peanut butter

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet, griddle, or grill pan over medium heat, to around 350°F.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Flip the bread over so the buttered sides are facing down. We recommend doing this on a plate or easy washable surface.
  4. Spread jelly on the plain side of one slice and spread peanut butter on the plain side of the other slice.
  5. Place the slices together with the peanut butter and jelly in the middle.
  6. Put the sandwich in the hot skillet or grill pan and cook for about 4 minutes per side. Cook until the bread is golden brown and crisp.
  7. Remove the sandwich from the pan and let it sit for 1 minute before slicing.
