Homemade Sausage Rolls

Cheap, easy and oh so delicious & at 18p a sausage roll its a bargain!
Difficulty Level: easy
Ingredients
- Pack of sausages – tesco value 66p
- puff pastry – tesco £1.10
- salt
- pepper
- thyme
- 1 egg or milk for glazing
- sesame seeds are optional
Instructions
Pre-heat your over to 200 degrees
run the sausages under a cold tap to firm them up slightly and then run a sharp knife across the casing to remove the meat inside and place into a mixing bowl.
add salt and pepper and thyme (or any other herbs you like. Sometimes i add chilli or mustard powder or even chopped up apple or some chorizo!)
mix all the ingredients together and then roll out the pastry into a large square about 2-3mm thick. Mine never goes square square, it’s more like a square with lots of wavy edges but that doesn’t matter.
cut the pastry into smaller rectangles. If you are using the tesco own brand i was able to make 10 rectangles out of it.
use the egg wash to paint the rectangles.
then place a small amount (about the size of a small meatball) on the top of the rectablge and make into a sausagey oblong tube shape and then roll the pastry down. This wraps or encases the sausage meat.
do this with all of them and lay them on a baking try covered in greaseproof paper.
then run an egg wash on top of all of them and sprinkle with some sesame seeds.
pop them into the middle of the oven for 25-30 mins and they should go a lovely golden brown colour. All done!!!
