Tasty Tomato And Bacon Bake

Yummy - adapted from a heinz tomato soup tin



  • 250gm dried penne pasta
  • 2 tbls olive oil (or any cooking oil)
  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 100g of sliced mushrooms
  • 100g chopped smoked bacon
  • 150g halved cherry tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 400g heinz tomato soup
  • 50g single cream
  • 8 torn fresh basil leaves
  • 80g full fat or half fat mozzarella cheese


1 cook pasta as you would normally in boiling water and put in a suitable oven proof baking dish. Preheat over to 180c or grill on high

2 add oil to frying pan and cook bacon and fry for about 2mins

3 remove bacon from pan and fry mushrooms with a sprinkling of salt and pepper.

4 add chopped onion and crushed garlic and cook until soft

5 add bacon back to pan.

6 add tomatoes and cook until toms go soft

7 add can of soup and siimmer for 2mins

8 add cream and stir

9 add basil leaves and stir.

10 pour misture in the pasta and sprinkle over the cheese and bake or grill until the cheese melts. (about 15mins in oven at 180degc)

if you dont have any mozza then any other cheese will do like chedder or feta etc.

remember we are students so we have to make do. So if you are short of some minor ingredients then dont worry, just leave it out.

use dried mixed herbs instead
