Ingredients

  • Ingredients
  • 1 and ¼ cups of Tesco plain flour/ 35p per 1Kg
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder/ 83p per 200g
  • 1 cup of Tate and Lyle Caster Sugar/15p
  • 1 Tesco Value egg/ 11p
  • ½ cup of Tesco Value butter/ £1.19 per 250g
  • Tesco Smooth Peanut Butter/ 41p per 100g
  • Total Student Money Saver Cost: £3.04

Instructions

  1. Preparation Method

  2. 1. First beat the butter at room temperature until creamy and then add the sugar. Feel free to use brown sugar if you prefer or maybe do half of each- it’s all about using your imagination. Mix the butter and the sugar for approx. 2min.

  3. 2. Add the peanut butter and the egg to the mixture.

  4. 3. In a separate bowl add all the dry ingredients- flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt- then stir them into the mixture.

  5. 4. Wrap the dough in plastic and foil, then refrigerate for a minimum of 3 hours.

  6. 5. Preheat the oven to 190°C. Using your hands and a bit of flour, shape the biscuits like they were your masterpiece- check out what I did with mine!

  7. 6. Cover the oven tray with ungreased sheet if you have it lying around the house, or just use aluminium foil like I did.

  8. 7. Bake until they get a LIGHT brown colour, around 10 minutes, and I stress light because mine look like they forgot to pack sunscreen for summer in Africa, oopsie! The ones who weren’t burned tasted really good though, so don’t let my poor timing skills put you off baking biscuits. Make sure you try them with vanilla ice cream, yummy!

  9. Voila!
