Pork with Cheese and Mushrooms

Pork steak topped with melted cheese and mushrooms
Difficulty Level: easy
Ingredients
- Pork Steak(s)
- Cheese (Personally I use mature Cheddar)
- Mushrooms (I use closed cap mushrooms)
- Optional:
- Salt
- Pepper
- Butter
- New potatoes
- Flour
Instructions
Start by removing the stalks from the mushrooms, and slicing the caps. Melt some butter in a frying pan and chuck the mushrooms in [on a medium heat]. Cook until tender.
Season and cook the pork steaks as instructed [I personally cook at 180C in a conventional oven]
When the pork steaks are nearly cooked, place the mushrooms on top with some chunks of cheese.
Optional addition:
Once the cheese has melted to your liking, take the pork stakes off the tray and pour the juices into the frying pan you used for the mushrooms [return the pork steaks to the tray and put back in the oven making sure the oven is turned off]. Add a splash of water to the frying pan, return to the heat and add a little bit of flour to thicken it up.
Once the new potatoes are cooked, I like to add a knob of butter and shake them up. Then I add any excess butter to the sauce in the frying pan. Season sauce to taste with salt and pepper.
