Published Monday, 07 January, 2013 by Laura

Sausage pie, simple as!

  • 5 sausages
  • 1 onion (cut in half if large)
  • gravy granuels
  • tomato puree
  • 3 potatoes (good size)
  • mushrooms
  • red wine
  • powdered garlic, salt and pepper

Chop your onion, sausages, and mushrooms and place in a pan with some oil. Put potatoes on to boil (boil them until they are ready to be mashed).

when sausages are cooked, add your gravy and tomato puree and stir together.

add pepper, salt, some garlic and red wine for taste.

cook it all until the potatoes are ready to be mashed. Mash them, and put the mixture into a casserole dish. Put mashed potato on top, and pop in the oven for a few minutes to keep warm.

Hi josie- basically you make gravy using the granules and add that and the tomato puree to everything else that's in the pan (the sausages, mushrooms, onion etc...). This makes the sauce if you like, and you can add as much of each as you like :)

This recipe is so confusing. Does it mean you add gravy granules and tomato puree to the pan with the sausages in? And how much gravy gran and tomato puree?

This is also great made with beans, sausages and onion topped with mash! :)
