STEP 1:

in a greased ovenproof dish, spread a layer of the potatoes over the base

STEP 2:

add layers of onion, bacon/ chicken breast pieces cream and a handful of cheese

STEP 3:

continue until the dish is full and finish at the top with the cheese

STEP 4:

cook in a moderate oven until the potatoes are soft and the top is golden brown
