Step 1:

  • Start by making some mashed potatoes ( left over potatoes of any kind will do )
  • Step 2:

  • -Chop the potatoes into 3rds, then 3rds again
  • Step 4:

  • -Put into a pan of boiling water until slightly soft, check this by stabbing one lightly with a knife
  • Step 6:

  • -Drain out the potatoes and put them into a pot. Add a small amount of milk, butter and season to taste
  • Step 8:

  • -Mash them to preferred consistency ( Lumpy or smooth)
  • Step 10:

  • While the potatoes are boiling, take your preferred meat and dice it into small pieces ( make sure the meat is already cooked ) I found thick smoked bacon worked really well for this dish

  • -Mix the diced meat and add it to the mash
  • Step 14:

  • -Add cheddar to taste ( try to use grated cheddar if possible)
  • Step 16:

  • -Add in a VERY small amount of flour/cornflour. Just enough to thicken it a bit

  • -Make the mash and meat into small thin patties
  • Step 20:

  • -Put a small amount of oil into the pan, just enough to cover it in a thin film
  • Step 22:

  • -Fry the patties for 2-3 minutes or until they have browned, flipping occasionally. ( More time might be needed depending on the thickness of the patties )

  • Serve with tomato sauce/relish
