Pitta Pizzas

A different take on pizza



  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes
  • a handful of cheese for each pitta
  • as many pittas as you can manage
  • smoked sausage (optional)
  • a big squirt of tomato ketchup


Dice an onion and fry it in the butter and the sugar. Once the onions are sticky, add the chopped tomatoes, the ketchup, the salt, the pepper, diced smoked sausage and simmer on a medium heat.

While the sauce is thickening, put the pittas in the oven and crisp up slightly.

Once the sauce has thickened and the pittas have crisped, it's time to assemble the pizzas.

Spoon the homemade sauce onto the pittas, add sliced smoked sausage and top with cheese, place in the oven until the cheese has melted and browned slightly.
