Preheat the oven to 180 C.
Finely chop or crush the garlic.
Mix with the butter/margerine (if its butter then you might have to mix using your fingertips to soften it).
Combine the mixed herbs to the garlic butter, if you have some.
Spread the butter over the bread, place on a baking tray then top with the cheese.
Bake for about 10 minutes or until cheese has melted.
Sprinkle with salt/pepper to taste.
This counts as an appropriate snack food, right?
