French Onion Soup

Very cheap onion soup (serves 4)



  • 4 Whole onions
  • 56g (2 oz) Butter/Margarine
  • 2 Pints of stock (Stock cubes)
  • Seasoning


1. Cut onions into thin rounds

2. Fry onions in hot butter until golden brown

3. Add stock and the seasoning

4. Simmer for around 20 minutes

5. Serve

    its great if you add a teaspoon of mustard, gives it that nice kick to it, served with wheaten bread .. its beaut.

    Add about 300-500ml of dry white wine to make it extra yummy! And/or some worcestershire sauce and/or marmite!

    Be really french and add some toasted french bread and melted cheese on top
