- 1 tube of tomato puree (29p)
- garlic (50p
- pepper & salt
- oregano and basil (£1 approx together)
- total price of ingredients £5.92 (but tha depends on what is already in your houses 🙂
Instructions
Boil pasta in a pan for 8-9 minutes.
While the pasta boils, blend the tin of tomatoes in a blender or with a hand blender NB. if you do not have either, not to worry, you can just but chopped tin tomatoes and have a chunky tomatoes sauce instead of it being smooth.
Once blended, pour into a saucepan and begin to heat it up. At this point the sauce will look slighty orangey or pale red, once it cooks its darkens in colour. once the sauce has been on heat fora a minute or so, pour in the tomato puree, the amount depends on how think you want your sauce as. Then mix well and leave to boil. Now cut the bacon into small chunks, and fry as you would normally (but dont let it go crispy!) Check on the pasta, and if it is done already, drain and rinse in cold water. pour into your oven dish when drained fully. Your dish is now nearly ready, add oregano, garlic, basil, salt and pepper according to your taste. Once you are satisfied, add your bacon into the saucepan and stir well. Then place your sauce over the pasta in the oven dish. mix the sauce werll so that all the pasta is covered in sauce. Then drain the mozzerella bag (as it is held in water for those who are unaware) and tear and place across the top of the pasta bake. If you like our cheese, I recomend a mild cheddar or emmental if you want more for your bake. both yummy 🙂
Now place in your oven after a sprinkle of salt and petter on top, usually at gas mark 6/200 for all other ovens.
leave for 10-20 minutes and its done 🙂
ENJOY!!!!
I came across this yummy dish after becoming bored of buying the normal pasta bake sauces. I wanted something where everything was comepletely from scratch, and something I could so easily change the taste of. All the prices above are all based on tescos own products, but you can get these anywhere for a reasonable price. 🙂
