Trying Viral Marry Me Chicken Recipe
Today, I am trying the viral Marry Me Chicken recipe! If you’ve been on TikTok recently, you have probably heard of the viral Marry Me Chicken. I am using a recipe originally from Delish with a few of my own additions. The dish got its playful name from the idea that it could inspire marriage proposals.
Ingredients
Instructions
STEP 1:
Preheat oven to 375°.
STEP 2:
In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil.
STEP 3:
Cut chicken breasts in half. Season chicken generously with salt and pepper and dredge lightly in flour.
STEP 4:
Sear until golden, 5 minutes per side. Transfer the chicken to a plate and pour off half the fat from the skillet.
STEP 5:
Return the skillet to medium heat and add garlic, shallots, thyme, and red pepper flakes. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
STEP 6:
Then, stir in broth, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, and season with more salt.
STEP 7:
Bring to a simmer, add cream and Parmesan.
STEP 8:
Transfer sauce and chicken to an oven-safe dish and bake until chicken is cooked through (and juices run clear when chicken is pierced with a knife), 10 to 12 minutes.
STEP 9:
Garnish with fresh basil and serve. I chose to serve over pasta.
Also known as Tuscan Sun Chicken or Sicilian Chicken, This recipe for the viral Marry Me Chicken is a trending dish but not a new recipe. While it has been making waves across the internet as a trending recipe, it’s important to note that this culinary gem is not a newcomer to the scene.
Delish editors first shared it in 2018 and named it after a taste test where they praised the creamy, savory chicken dinner.
The luscious sauce, infused with a blend of herbs and spices, envelops the tender and succulent chicken. Each bite delivers a symphony of flavors that transport you to the sun-kissed regions of Tuscany or Sicily, where the culinary traditions are rich and vibrant.

While I used sundried tomatoes that weren’t in oil, you can certainly opt for canned sundried tomatoes in oil to enhance the flavors of the viral Marry Me Chicken even further. The oil from the tomatoes adds an additional layer of richness and intensifies the tomato flavor in both the chicken and the sauce. It’s a brilliant way to utilize every bit of flavor.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the rich and flavorful sauce, paired exquisitely with creamy mashed potatoes or buttery pasta. In my case, I decided to serve it over pasta, as both my mom and I have an insatiable love for pasta dishes. However, don’t be deceived by the ease of serving a smaller portion; this viral Marry Me Chicken dish can be effortlessly scaled up to feed a large crowd, making it a fantastic choice for gatherings and celebrations.
Best of all, it can be whipped up in under an hour, making it the perfect choice for busy weeknights or special occasions alike. So, gather your ingredients, whether it’s sundried tomatoes in oil or their oil-free counterparts, and prepare to create a masterpiece. The viral Marry Me Chicken, with its delectable flavors and versatile serving options, will surely become a memorable and well-loved dish at your table.
