Cheeseburger Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Lettuce leaves
- 4 tomato slices
- 4 slices of onion
- Pickle slices (optional)
- Ketchup and mustard (optional)
Cheeseburger Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and pepper until just combined. Do not over-mix, as this can make the burgers tough.
- Divide the beef into four equal portions and gently shape them into patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.
- Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on the first side. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F for medium doneness.
- Flip the patties and add a slice of cheddar cheese to each one. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil to help the cheese melt. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- While the patties are cooking, butter the hamburger buns and toast them on the grill for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the cheesy patty, a slice of tomato, onion, and pickles if desired. Add ketchup and mustard if you like.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious homemade cheeseburger!
