Cheeseburger Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 slices of onion
  • Pickle slices (optional)
  • Ketchup and mustard (optional)

Cheeseburger Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and pepper until just combined. Do not over-mix, as this can make the burgers tough.
  2. Divide the beef into four equal portions and gently shape them into patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.
  3. Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on the first side. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F for medium doneness.
  5. Flip the patties and add a slice of cheddar cheese to each one. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil to help the cheese melt. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  6. While the patties are cooking, butter the hamburger buns and toast them on the grill for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the cheesy patty, a slice of tomato, onion, and pickles if desired. Add ketchup and mustard if you like.
  8. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious homemade cheeseburger!
