If you haven’t tried Taco Bell’s new Volcano Sauce and love heat, you should.
Taco Bell has brought back the Volcano Quesarito for its January 2026 menu. It’s the return fast-food fans have been asking for and rest assured, the heat is back.
As reported by the Williamson Source, the Volcano Quesarito is part of the company’s new rollout, but the updated sauce is packing a big twist. The item keeps what fans come to expect, a classic warm cheesy wrap, but the sauce is no longer a background kick.
I used to love limited-time food runs, especially when it came with a twist. In this case, a new sauce recipe that people will either love or hate. These days, while watching a number of chronic issues, anything fast-food will have to be split to keep the sodium, carbs, and sugar down. However, this new sauce really has my curiosity tingling.
What changed in the sauce?
The actual recipe change is unknown, but The Street reports that the return is being framed as a bold upgrade. The reformulated Volcano Sauce is meant to make this fan-favorite comeback feel new rather than the same-old, same-old.
Let’s be honest, hot sauce fans can be picky and Taco Bell knows that.
Good Housekeeping found that the Volcano Quesarito remains creamy and spicy, with the heat coming through fast. Imagine comfort food that gives you a slap mid-bite.

More items in the January rollout
The Quesarito and Volcano Sauce aren’t the only new items in January at Taco Bell. Tasting Table wrote that several other items are on the menu:
- Salted Caramel Churros
- Nacho Supreme Dip
- Mini Taco Salad
- Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker
- Beefy Loaded Potato Griller
- Plus the return of Lava Sauce for people who want a familiar punch.
For anyone who likes to hunt down new stuff, Tasting Table also wrote that Loaded Nacho Fries are being tested in select locations only. So it may depend on your zip code. If you spot them, you’re in the lucky batch.
Chicken is getting more love
We previously reported that McDonald’s was leaning into chicken more in 2026, and it appears Taco Bell is doing the same.
According to Taco Bell, their Crispy Chicken Nuggets are sticking around after testing in 2025. Other crispy chicken items are also expected to have a regular place on the menu going forward too.
This is a real shift for longtime fans who only think of tacos when they hear the name.
