Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Simple recipe that will go down a treat!



  • 75g butter or margarine
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 75g brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 175g self raising flour
  • pinch salt
  • 50g walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 100g chocolate chips


1) grease two baking sheets. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.

2) cream the butter, sugar and vanilla essence. Beat in the egg.

3) sift in the flour and salt then stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).

4) place heaped teaspoonfuls of mixture onto baking trays (space well apart) and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

5) watch people come running at the smell of freshly baked cookies!!

    Do you have to add vanilla extract or can you leave it?
    and is ok if you don't add butter?
