Ingredients: 75g butter or margarine; 75g caster sugar; 75g brown sugar; 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract; 1 egg; 175g self raising flour; pinch salt; 50g walnuts, chopped (optional); 100g chocolate chips

Step 1:

1) grease two baking sheets. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.

Step 2:

2) cream the butter, sugar and vanilla essence. Beat in the egg.

Step 3:

3) sift in the flour and salt then stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).

Step 4:

4) place heaped teaspoonfuls of mixture onto baking trays (space well apart) and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Step 5:

5) watch people come running at the smell of freshly baked cookies!!
