Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (white or sourdough work best)
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or your favourite melting cheese)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place two slices of bread buttered-side down on a cutting board. Add two slices of cheese to each piece of bread, then top with the remaining bread slices, buttered-side up.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes on one side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden brown. Flip the sandwiches and cook for another 2–3 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Slice the sandwiches in half and serve warm. Pair with tomato soup for a classic combo, if desired.
