Wonton Soup Ingredients
- 8 oz of ground pork (cooked)
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of rice wine or dry sherry
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger, grated
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 30 wonton wrappers
- 6 cups of chicken broth
- 4 slices of fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 2 green onions, sliced
- A handful of baby spinach, optional
- 1/4 teaspoon of white pepper, or to taste
Wonton Soup Instructions
- Mix the cooked ground pork, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl until combined.
- Set up a small cup of water.
- Place a wonton wrapper on your hand, add about 1 teaspoon filling.
- Wet the edges, then fold and press to seal. Keep going until you’ve used the filling.
- In a pot, bring the broth to a gentle simmer. Add ginger slices, smashed garlic, and the larger pieces of green onion. Simmer 10 minutes so the broth picks up flavor.
- Stir in soy sauce. Taste the broth now as it’s easier to adjust before the wontons go in.
- Drop in the wontons in small batches so they don’t stick.
- Simmer for 5 minutes, until they float and the filling is cooked through.
- Add bok choy or spinach and cook for 1 minute, just until wilted.
- Finish with sesame oil.
- Ladle into bowls, then top with extra sliced green onion if you want.
